The 74th edition of Miss Universe has begun in Thailand with contestants from 121 countries. In the “People’s Choice” category, Bangladesh’s representative Tanzia Zaman Mithila has made an impressive mark.
As of Thursday (November 13), Mithila has received over 281,000 votes, putting her in second place and surpassing Chile’s contestant Inna Moll. Currently leading the list is Indonesia’s Ahtisa Manalo, and Mithila needs around 29,000 more votes to claim the top spot.
In a Facebook post, Mithila urged her fellow Bangladeshis to vote, writing:
“If just one million people from Bangladesh cast 10 votes each day, that would make tens of millions of votes in a week. In a country of 180–190 million, losing just for lack of votes is unacceptable.”
Voting will continue until November 19, and Mithila is expected to gain more votes and potentially reach the top spot soon.
Apart from the People’s Choice category, Mithila is also excelling in other segments — 1st in Best National Costume, 2nd in Miss Congeniality, 2nd in Best Evening Gown, and 3rd in Best Skin.
After completing events in Phuket, Mithila is now in Pattaya. The Miss Universe Bangladesh 2025 crown-holder and actress remains optimistic about her journey and hopes to bring glory to her country on the global stage.
