In recent days, there have been incidents of cocktail bomb explosions and petrol bomb attacks targeting schools and other locations in the capital.
Security measures have been intensified in anticipation of the upcoming lockdown program on November 13 announced by a banned political party. According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), there is no direct security threat associated with the program.
Amid the recent instability, security has been increased at key state institutions across Dhaka. In particular, additional police personnel have been deployed at 50 DMP police stations. However, law enforcement sources indicate that the situation on the ground is not fully under control. Miscreants have set fire to school vehicles and passenger buses, while a group of masked individuals wearing helmets have carried out indiscriminate cocktail bomb attacks in key areas of the city.
According to DMP data, 17 cocktail bomb incidents occurred at 15 locations in the capital over the past 11 days. Authorities have intensified security at state institutions and police stations to keep the situation under control.
