Bangladeshi filmmaker Khandaker Sumon has been officially invited to serve on the international jury of the 6th Bogura International Film Festival (BIFF 2026), organized by Pundranagar Film Society, Bogura.
The festival will take place from 8–10 January 2026 at Modhuban Cineplex, Bogura City, Bangladesh.
This year’s edition will showcase 71 films from 32 countries, competing across seven different categories. The festival’s jury panels feature a diverse group of filmmakers, scholars, and curators from around the world.

Before joining BIFF 2026, Khandaker Sumon served as a jury member at the Nepal International Film Festival, further establishing his growing reputation as one of South Asia’s most insightful voices in contemporary cinema.
Festival Director Supin Barman said,
“We are honored to welcome Khandaker Sumon to our international jury. His vision and cinematic sensibility will add great value to this year’s festival.”
Sumon’s debut feature, Saatao (Memories of Gloomy Monsoons), premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 2022 and went on to receive wide critical acclaim. The film is currently streaming on several international OTT platforms. He is now working on his upcoming feature ‘Mashan’, a story rooted in myth and folklore.
The Bogura International Film Festival has become one of the most significant film events in northern Bangladesh, uniting filmmakers, researchers, and audiences from around the world in a shared dialogue through cinema.
