A man named Tariq Saeed Mamun (50) was shot dead by unidentified assailants in front of Dhaka National Medical College Hospital in Sutrapur, Old Dhaka, on Monday (November 10) around 11 a.m.
According to eyewitnesses, they suddenly heard gunshots around 11 a.m. and later found a man lying on the road in a pool of blood. Locals rushed him to Dhaka National Medical College Hospital, but as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead.
The victim’s cousin, Hafiz, said Tariq Saeed Mamun was an ordinary person and had no political affiliations. “We don’t know who killed him or why,” he added.
Mahibullah, the ward master at Dhaka National Medical College Hospital, said, “We heard gunshots outside the hospital and found a man severely injured. We immediately brought him inside for treatment, but his condition worsened, so he was sent to DMCH.”
Md. Faruk, in charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed that the body has been kept in the morgue and the Sutrapur police have been informed.
Sutrapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saiful Islam said the shooting took place at 10:53 a.m. CCTV footage from the area has been collected and is being analyzed to identify the assailants.
