The promotion of government primary school head teachers across the country is now close to final approval. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has sent a letter to the Finance Ministry to upgrade the pay scale of 65,502 head teachers to the 10th grade.
Currently, these head teachers are in the 11th and 12th grades. Once the promotion is implemented, they will receive salaries in the range of Tk 16,000 to Tk 38,640.
The letter regarding the proposal was issued from the School-2 branch on November 4, and signed on November 5 by Joint Secretary Rebeka Sultana. The Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Public Administration had already given their policy approval earlier.
To implement this upgrade, six conditions must be fulfilled. These include final consent from the Expenditure Management Wing of the Finance Division, approval from the Secretary Committee on Administrative Development, amendments to the recruitment rules, and completion of BTPT training within 18 months for head teachers who have not yet received training.
The government says that the implementation of this promotion will enhance leadership and administrative efficiency in primary education.
