The Supreme Court has decided to promote more than three hundred judges to the post of District and Sessions Judge. The decision was taken at a Full Court meeting of the Supreme Court on Tuesday (November 4) in the afternoon.
During the meeting, the issue of former District Judge Kamarunnahar—who had previously lost her judicial powers for granting bail to an accused in the Raintree rape case despite a stay order from the Appellate Division—was discussed. The responsibility to review whether her judicial powers will be reinstated has been assigned to the Judicial Administration (JA) Committee.
The Full Court meeting, chaired by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, took place from 3 PM to 5 PM. More than 20 agenda items were discussed, and most of the judges from both the Appellate Division and the High Court Division were present.
