Ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, the BNP has announced a preliminary list of candidates for 237 constituencies. On Monday (November 3) at 5:30 PM, the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir revealed the list during a press conference at the political office of the BNP Chairperson in Gulshan, Dhaka.
According to the preliminary list, Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will contest in three constituencies—Feni-1, Bogura-7, and Dinajpur-3. The party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will contest from Bogura-6. Additionally, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will run from Thakurgaon-1, while Sanjida Tuli, daughter of the party leader, will contest from Dhaka-14.
He stated that after 16 years, a democratic election is set to take place, and the list of potential candidates has been prepared accordingly. For constituencies where joint movement allies’ candidates are participating, the BNP will coordinate and finalize the candidates later.
Mirza Fakhrul added that the candidates were selected based on field-level surveys to ensure that the party nominates candidates with a strong chance of winning.
Present at the press conference were members of the BNP Standing Committee, including Dr. Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moin Khan, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, and Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain.
