Former State Minister for Education A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon was sent back from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Immigration authorities confirmed the incident on Thursday (30 October).
According to immigration sources, Milon was not allowed to enter the country due to an active travel ban against him.
Milon was elected as a Member of Parliament from Chandpur-1 constituency (Kachua Upazila) in the 1996 national elections as a BNP candidate. In the 2001 elections, he defeated Awami League candidate Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir to regain his seat and later served as the State Minister for Education.
Regarding the incident, Milon told a news outlet, “I mistakenly brought an old passport, which does not have my name ‘Milon’ on it. I was sent back due to this passport-related error. I am now flying to Bangkok on a night flight.
