Dhaka: Three-time international Quran competition champion Hafiz Saifur Rahman Taqi has passed away. On Tuesday (28 October), he breathed his last while on life support at Mugda Medical College Hospital in the capital. The cause of death was dengue fever.
Hafiz Taqi brought pride to the country by winning first place in international Huffaz al-Quran competitions in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. He also won various national Quran competitions and was featured in NTV’s popular religious program ‘Quraner Alo’.
The news was confirmed to the media by his teacher and the founder of Markazut Tahfiz, Hafiz Kari Shaykh Nesar Ahmad An-Nasiri. Hafiz Taqi completed his Quran memorization at Markazut Tahfiz and later studied in the Kitab section of a madrasa in Narayanganj.
Born in 2000 in Dalpa, Muradnagar, Comilla, Hafiz Taqi’s father Maulana Badiul Alam is a madrasa teacher. The untimely death of this young world champion has cast a shadow of grief over his family and the entire country. Many people expressed their condolences on social media.
Hafiz Taqi’s international achievements will remain a shining example of Bangladesh’s Quranic education and talent in history.
