The United States has deported 54 Indian citizens over allegations of illegally residing in the country. On Sunday early morning, 50 youths from Haryana state were sent back to India, handcuffed and shackled, and handed over to their families. Their ages range between 25 and 40, according to NDTV.
Police stated that all the deported individuals had entered the U.S. illegally. Among them, 16 are from Karnal, 15 from Kaithal, 5 from Ambala, 4 each from Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra, 3 from Jind, 2 from Sonipat, and 1 each from Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, and Fatehabad.
Karnal DSP Sandeep Kumar said that all deportees have been handed over to their families, and no complaints have been found against any agents. He added, “Today, some more Indians have been sent back from the U.S., including 50 from Haryana, most of whom had entered via the ‘Donkey Route.’”
Police further stated that investigations regarding the case are ongoing. Earlier this year, hundreds of Indians were deported by U.S. authorities. Since Donald Trump assumed the presidency in January, his administration has taken strict measures against illegal immigrants.
