Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi has signed a new contract with Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer (MLS) club in the United States. Under the new deal, Messi will stay with the club until 2028.
In a statement released by the club, Messi said:
“I’m truly happy to be here and to continue with this project. Playing at the Miami Freedom Park Stadium has been a dream come true. Since arriving in Miami, I’ve been very happy, and I’m delighted to keep working here.”
Inter Miami co-owner and former English footballer David Beckham said Messi’s new deal reflects his “commitment to the city, the club, and the game.”
“Messi still wants to win. He loves football deeply and has done so much to grow the sport in this country while inspiring the next generation of young talents. As owners, we’re incredibly fortunate to have a player like him,” Beckham added.
Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023 after leaving PSG. Soon after his arrival, he led the team to its first major trophy — the Leagues Cup, marking a new milestone in the club’s history.
