Renowned actress, director, and singer Meher Afroz Shaon’s mother, Begum Tahura Ali, has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un). Shaon herself confirmed the news in a Facebook post on Thursday morning (October 23).
In her emotional post, Shaon wrote:
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return. With a heavy heart, I share that my mother, Begum Tahura Ali, has passed away. May the Almighty forgive her, grant her Jannatul Ferdous, and give us all the strength and patience to bear this loss.”
Shaon also informed that the first funeral prayer (janaza) will be held after Asr prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque, and the second janaza will take place after Maghrib prayers at Tejgaon Rahim Metal Central Mosque.
She requested everyone to pray for the salvation of her mother’s soul.
Family sources said that Begum Tahura Ali had been ill for a long time. At the time of her passing, Shaon and other family members were by her side.
Begum Tahura Ali was known as an educated, graceful, and kind-hearted woman.
Her daughter, Meher Afroz Shaon, is a multi-talented artist in Bangladesh—an actress, singer, filmmaker, and writer. She is also the widow of the late legendary author Humayun Ahmed.
