A 20-year-old youth named Jahid was killed in a cocktail explosion during a clash between two rival groups at Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday (October 22).
Critically injured, Jahid was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead in the early morning, confirmed Md. Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp.
According to Md. Atikur Rahman Jewel, the duty officer at Mohammadpur Police Station, police were informed of multiple cocktail explosions during a clash between two groups at Geneva Camp. By the time police arrived, the situation had calmed down. Later, it was learned that one person had been injured in the blast, who was later identified as the deceased.
Friends of the victim said Jahid worked as a graphics designer. On the night of the incident, he was out with friends when he got caught in the middle of the confrontation between the two groups. A cocktail exploded near his leg, leaving him severely injured.
He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead after examination.
