In the second ODI of the three-match series at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Bangladesh lost to the West Indies by 1 run in a Super Over, leveling the series 1–1. The match has now become an unofficial final of the series.
Batting first, West Indies scored 213 runs for 7 wickets in 50 overs. Soumya Sarkar was Bangladesh’s top scorer with 45 runs. Saif Hasan and Soumya started cautiously, but Saif was dismissed for just 6 runs. Tohid Hridoy, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, and Onkon also failed to play big innings.
Towards the end, Nasum and Rishad played aggressively to boost the score. Nasum contributed 14 runs, and Rishad remained unbeaten on 39. Captain Miraz stayed unbeaten on 32 from 58 balls, guiding Bangladesh to a challenging total.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh needed a few runs in the final over. With Saif Hasan bowling, the Bangladeshi bowlers managed to keep the West Indies under pressure. By the final ball, three runs were needed, but a misplay by batsman Perry resulted in a tie, sending the game into a Super Over.
In the Super Over, West Indies scored 10 runs. Bangladesh could only manage 9 runs in response, losing by 1 run. With this result, the series stands tied at 1–1.
Though Soumya Sarkar, Nasum, Rishad, and captain Miraz played crucial innings, the failure of other batsmen to contribute significantly limited Bangladesh’s chances of winning.
