The government has approved a 5% increase in house rent allowance for MPO-listed (Monthly Pay Order) teachers and employees working in private educational institutions across the country. According to the new decision, they will receive 5% of their basic salary as house rent allowance, with a minimum of Tk 2,000. The benefit will be effective from November 1.
The information was confirmed in a circular issued on Sunday (October 19), signed by Mariam Mitu, Deputy Secretary of the Regulation Subdivision of the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance.
The circular stated that the decision was made considering the government’s existing budget limitations.
It also mentioned several conditions for receiving the allowance, including: aligning the allowance with any future national pay scale revisions, ensuring compliance with the “Non-Government Educational Institution Manpower Structure and MPO Policy”, and not making any claims for arrears under any circumstances.
