In this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, girls have outperformed boys both in pass rates and in GPA-5 achievements.
The combined results across 11 education boards show an overall pass rate of 58.83 percent. Girls’ pass rate is 62.97 percent, while boys’ pass rate is 54.60 percent, meaning 8.37 percent more girls passed than boys.
Girls also lead in GPA-5 achievements. A total of 69,097 students received GPA-5 this year, including 37,044 girls and 32,053 boys. In 2024, the number of students achieving GPA-5 was 145,911. Compared to last year, the number of GPA-5 achievers has decreased by 76,814 this year.
The exams were held in written form on August 19 and practical exams from August 21 to 31. A total of 1,251,111 students participated under the 11 education boards, including 618,015 boys and 633,096 girls. The exams took place at 2,797 centers across the country.
Board-wise examinee numbers: Dhaka Board – 291,241; Rajshahi – 133,242; Comilla – 101,750; Jessore – 116,317; Chittagong – 135. Barishal – 61,025; Sylhet – 69,683; Dinajpur – 103,832; Mymensingh – 78,273. Under the Madrasa Board, 86,102 students took the Alim exam, and under the Technical Board, 109,611 students appeared for exams.
