Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the National Consensus Commission, stated that the national elections will be held in February and will take place in a festive and peaceful environment.
He made the remarks during an urgent meeting with political parties on the July Charter at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Wednesday (October 15).
Dr. Yunus said, “Just as you all collaboratively drafted the National Charter, it is the government’s responsibility to ensure a festive election. There will be no compromise or negotiation on this. We will take all possible measures to make this happen.”
He expressed optimism that the July Charter will be signed in a festive environment on October 17. He added that the signing of the document will pave the way for the election process, and the nation is eagerly awaiting it.
The meeting was attended by leaders from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizens Party (NCP), Islami Andolon Bangladesh, CPB, Ganoshonghoti Andolon, JSD (R), Revolutionary Workers Party, AB Party, and other political parties.
