In September 2025, Bangladesh received $2.6858 billion in remittances, marking a 10.46% increase compared to the same month last year, according to the latest report from Bangladesh Bank.
Compared to August, remittance inflow also rose, from $2.4218 billion in August to September, registering a 10.90% monthly growth.
Experts attribute this increase to government measures against illegal money transfers and incentives encouraging the legal channel for remittances. This has strengthened the country’s foreign currency reserves and eased pressure on the dollar in the exchange market.
Bangladesh Bank noted that repayment of foreign debts has improved transaction balances, and foreign banks’ confidence in Bangladesh has returned, bringing stability to the foreign exchange market.
Among banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh received the highest remittance—$698.5 million, followed by Bangladesh Krishi Bank ($258.2 million), Janata Bank ($170 million), and BRAC Bank ($160 million).
Since the fall of the Awami League government last year, remittance inflows have maintained a positive trend. In March 2025, the country recorded a record $3.29 billion in remittances, the highest monthly inflow so far. In the 2024–25 fiscal year, Bangladesh received over $30 billion in remittances, which is approximately 27% higher than the previous year.
