Despite a call from U.S. President Donald Trump to stop the bombardment, Israel has continued its attacks on Gaza. On Saturday alone, at least 70 Palestinians were killed across the besieged enclave, according to medical sources. Among them, at least 45 people died in famine-stricken Gaza City due to airstrikes and shelling.
In the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike on a civilian home killed 18 people and injured several others. Among the dead were seven children—the youngest just two months old and the oldest eight. The attack also damaged several nearby buildings.
Israeli forces also struck a displacement camp in Al-Mawasi, in southern Gaza—designated by Israel as a so-called “safe humanitarian zone.” That attack killed two children and wounded at least eight others.
Elsewhere, Israeli airstrikes hit multiple areas, including the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, leaving the situation even more dire. An Al Jazeera correspondent reported that hospitals are overwhelmed and unable to treat all the wounded, with no signs of a ceasefire in sight.
With relentless bombardment and a crippling fuel crisis, only a handful of Gaza’s hospitals remain barely functional. Over the past two years of continuous Israeli attacks, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed, hundreds of thousands displaced, and much of Gaza reduced to rubble. Meanwhile, famine continues to tighten its grip, pushing the besieged territory into an ever-deepening humanitarian catastrophe.
