Shahidul Alam, Managing Director of Drik and renowned photographer, has shared a video message from the ‘Global Sumud Flotilla’ heading towards Gaza. In the message posted on Facebook on Thursday (October 2), he expressed firm determination, saying, “We will not retreat in the face of any Israeli attack; we will definitely reach Gaza.”
Alam mentioned that they navigated through stormy conditions on Tuesday (September 30), although the storm has now subsided. He added that the ship’s captain was moving the vessel quickly to reach the destination before the storm hit.
He also noted that their ship, ‘Sumud Flotilla’, is at the very rear of the flotilla, while the vessels in front have already approached near Gaza. Alam stated, “The ships ahead were attacked by Israeli forces at night. However, our ship has not yet reached that area.”
Alam further mentioned that a Turkish ship was seen at sea on Wednesday, but it was at a distance. He reassured, “We are gradually moving closer. Under no circumstances will we retreat due to Israeli attacks. Despite the turbulent sea and potential storms, we will continue our journey.”
The flotilla’s firm resolve and commitment to delivering humanitarian aid are drawing international attention.
