Dhaka has recorded 206 millimeters of rainfall in the past 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. In a forecast issued Wednesday morning, the Storm Warning Centre said that rain or thundershowers may continue in Dhaka and surrounding areas within the next six hours from 7 a.m.
The forecast also mentioned that the sky may remain temporarily partly cloudy to overcast, with winds blowing from the south and southeast at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour.
According to the Met Office, the daytime temperature may drop by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius below normal. At 6 a.m. today, the temperature in Dhaka was 24.4 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 98 percent. Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 35.5 degrees Celsius, while today’s minimum was recorded at 24.2 degrees Celsius.
Notably, the Meteorological Department considers over 88 millimeters of rainfall in 24 hours as “very heavy rainfall.” Based on that scale, Dhaka experienced very heavy rainfall in the past day.
