At least 79 Palestinians have been killed in the latest Israeli air and ground assaults on the Gaza Strip, bringing the total death toll to 66,005. The number of injured has risen to 168,162, according to a report published on Sunday (28 September) by Anadolu Agency.
The Gaza Health Ministry stated that within the past 24 hours, 79 bodies were brought to hospitals, including two recovered from under the rubble. Another 379 people were reported injured. Officials fear the actual casualty figures are higher, as many victims remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings due to a lack of manpower and equipment for rescue operations.
The ministry further reported that in the past 24 hours, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians attempting to collect humanitarian aid, killing six and wounding 66 others. Since May 27, a total of 2,566 people have been killed and 18,769 injured while trying to secure aid.
Despite facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its ongoing Gaza offensive, Israel’s military operations have continued unabated. The relentless violence has sparked widespread condemnation across the globe.
