Awami League Advisory Council member and former Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed is currently on life support at Square Hospital in Dhaka. On Sunday (September 28), his family confirmed the matter and requested prayers for his recovery.
Hospital authorities said the veteran politician has been admitted for the past four days due to age-related complications. He had long been suffering from health issues and has been wheelchair-bound since a stroke left part of his body paralyzed, requiring constant medical supervision.
In his long political career, Tofail Ahmed was elected to the National Parliament nine times, most recently from the Bhola-1 constituency. He also served for many years as a presidium member of the Awami League.
