Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called upon Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to actively contribute to the rebuilding of the nation.
Speaking at the “NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis” event in New York on Saturday (28 September), Dr. Yunus emphasized the crucial role expatriates can play with their knowledge, experience, and resources in advancing the changes initiated by the July uprising. Several political leaders from Bangladesh, who accompanied him on the trip, were also present at the event.
Dr. Yunus expressed gratitude to the political leaders for joining the UN trip, saying their presence had significantly boosted confidence in the reform journey.
At the program, the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun, presented the country’s economic progress over the last 15 months since the July uprising. He thanked expatriates for their role in driving more than 21% growth in remittances and highlighted government initiatives to create a more investment-friendly environment.
Two interactive panel discussions were held on the future of Bangladesh and the engagement of the diaspora. Political leaders and experts shared their perspectives on national reconstruction and the role of the diaspora community.
As part of the event, the Chief Adviser also launched a mobile app named “Shubhechha”, designed to provide expatriates with essential services, guidance, and investment opportunities.
