Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is set to leave Dhaka tonight (Sunday, September 21) for New York, United States, to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. He is scheduled to arrive in New York on September 22.
According to the itinerary, Dr. Yunus will deliver his address at the UN General Assembly on September 26, where he will highlight the reforms undertaken in Bangladesh over the past year and reaffirm the government’s commitment to establishing a truly democratic system through the upcoming national elections. He is expected to return home on October 2.
Accompanying the Chief Adviser are four political leaders— BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, National Citizen Party (NCP) member secretary Akhtar Hossain, and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s foreign affairs adviser Humayun Kabir.
In addition, on September 30, Dr. Yunus will participate in a high-level conference titled “High-Level Conference on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar”, chaired by the President of the UN General Assembly.
