Four members of the same family were burnt in an air-conditioner explosion at their residence in Dholaipar, Jatrabari, in the capital. The incident occurred around 1:30 am on Friday night. They were later rescued and taken to the emergency unit of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The injured are—Tuhin Hossain (38), his wife Iba Akter (30), and their two sons Tanvir (9) and Tawhid (7). According to doctors, Tuhin sustained 47% burns, Iba 15%, Tanvir 40%, and Tawhid 8%. Three of them have been admitted, while Tawhid is under observation.
Tuhin’s sister-in-law Farzana said he used to work at a mobile servicing shop in Motaleb Plaza. Around 1:30 am, the AC suddenly exploded, causing the fire that burnt the entire family. They are now undergoing treatment in critical condition.
