After a dramatic equation, Bangladesh have booked their place in the Super Four of the Asia Cup. Though not directly involved in the Sri Lanka–Afghanistan clash, Liton Das’s team ultimately benefited from Sri Lanka’s win in Abu Dhabi, securing their Super Four berth.
Sri Lanka chased down Afghanistan’s 169 with 8 balls to spare, sealing a six-wicket victory. With three wins from three matches, Sri Lanka topped the group with 6 points, while Bangladesh, who lost only to them, finished runners-up with 4 points.
Afghanistan, despite defeating only Hong Kong, bowed out from the group stage in disappointment. The semifinalists of the last T20 World Cup ended their campaign earlier than expected.
From Group A, India and Pakistan had already qualified for the Super Four. On Saturday in Dubai, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in their opening Super Four clash. They will then play India on Wednesday and Pakistan the following day.
