Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has assured that there are no security concerns regarding the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections. The force stated that a special security plan has been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls, and police have been deployed since early morning.
On Monday (September 8), while inspecting security arrangements at TSC, DMP Deputy Commissioner Molla Azad said, “So far, no concerns have been reported. We are on full alert.” He also added that after 8 PM today, no one will be allowed to enter the university campus without a valid pass.
Meanwhile, the Chief Returning Officer’s office has banned carrying bags, mobile phones, smartwatches, electronic devices, water bottles, and any liquid items inside the polling centers.
DMP further announced that from Monday until September 10, no one except law enforcement personnel will be allowed to carry firearms—whether legal or licensed—within the university campus. Possession of weapons during this period will be treated as a punishable offense.
