Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has inquired about the health condition of Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gana Odhikar Parishad.
On Saturday (August 30) around 1 pm, he called Nur—who is currently under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital—and inquired about his condition. During the conversation, the Chief Adviser assured a fair investigation into Friday night’s incident and promised necessary action.
Abu Hanif, a senior council member of Gana Odhikar Parishad, confirmed the matter, adding that Nur briefed the Chief Adviser about the details of the clash during the phone call.
It may be recalled that on Friday night in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, following a clash between Jatiya Party and Gana Odhikar Parishad activists, Nur and more than fifty others were injured in an attack allegedly carried out by army and police personnel in front of Al Razi Tower. The incident has since drawn condemnation and protests from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and other political parties.
