For 75 minutes, Inter Miami trailed behind. But then Lionel Messi stepped up with a stunning brace to seal a dramatic 3-1 victory over Orlando City and send Miami into the Leagues Cup final.
Miami fell behind in the first half, but in the 75th minute Messi equalized from the penalty spot. Later, combining brilliantly with Jordi Alba, he slotted home a superb finish to put his team ahead. In stoppage time, Messi’s pass set up Segovia, who netted the third to put the game beyond doubt.
After returning from injury and looking quiet for much of the match, the Argentine wizard once again lit up the stage when it mattered most, guiding Miami to their second straight Leagues Cup final.
On Sunday, Inter Miami will face Seattle Sounders in the grand finale.
