After spending a year working in India, five women from Panchagarh have finally returned to their homeland. On Thursday, through a flag meeting at the Tentulia border, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed them over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). These women—Jesmin Sultana, Parveen Khatun, Shirina Parveen, Amina Akhter, and Laboni Akhter—had been working as domestic help and in parlors in Gujarat.
They were arrested by the Indian CID police in Gujarat on May 16th and were later transferred to the BSF camp in Siliguri. The handover process was completed after the BGB verified their identities. They were returned to their family members, who had previously filed a general diary (GD) at the police station, thus closing a long chapter of uncertainty in their lives.
