BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman announced that the party will elect its leadership at all levels—from local to national—through council votes. He made the statement while virtually addressing the national conference of the Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) on Saturday (August 9) at Willes Little Flower School in Kakrail, Dhaka.
Tarique claimed that since August 5, 2024, people have been able to “breathe freely” and are looking to the BNP for change. He promised to uphold democratic practices if the party comes to power.
He called for collective efforts to implement BNP’s 31-point agenda for national reconstruction, urging doctors, farmers, and citizens from all sectors to contribute. “We presented these reform proposals two and a half years ago. With public support, we will implement them,” he said.
BNP Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain and other senior leaders attended the event. Later, DAB began its executive committee elections at 1 PM.
