The dengue outbreak in the country is increasing. In the last 24 hours, six more people have died due to dengue. At the same time, 2,088 people have been newly admitted to hospitals.
According to the information provided by the Directorate General of Health Services, the number of deaths due to dengue this year has increased to 341.
This information was given in a press release sent by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday (October 18).
Admissions outside Dhaka are more
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of 595 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation). Apart from this, 290 people have been admitted to hospitals in Khulna division, 232 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 231 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 200 in Rajshahi division, 199 in Barisal division, 161 in Chittagong division, 93 in Mymensingh division, 72 in Rangpur division and 15 in Sylhet division.
More than 100,000 hospitalized this year
The Health Department’s notification says that the number of patients hospitalized due to dengue this year has reached 112,400.
However, there is an inconsistency in the information in the notification itself regarding the number of deaths. Initially, the number of deaths this year was said to be 341, but in the later part, 348 deaths were mentioned. It is necessary to verify the information of the Health Department to confirm the correct number.
