On the occasion of the autumn Durga Puja, secondary and lower secondary school students in the country are going to get a 9-day holiday. There has been no change in the holiday scheduled for Durga Puja in the revised holiday list for the 2026 academic year.
According to the revised holiday calendar of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, all government and private secondary and lower secondary schools in the country will be closed from October 18 (Sunday) to October 22 (Thursday) on the occasion of Durga Puja.
Previously, there were weekly holidays on October 16 and 17 (Friday and Saturday). As a result, the students’ holidays will begin after classes end on Thursday, October 15.
Meanwhile, after the scheduled Puja holiday, there will be another weekly holiday on October 23 and 24 (Friday and Saturday). As a result, although the Puja holiday is scheduled until October 22 in the holiday calendar, educational institutions will open on October 25 (Sunday) due to the addition of the weekly holiday.
That is, schools will be closed for 9 consecutive days from October 16 to October 24. During this long vacation centered around Durga Puja, students will have the opportunity to spend time with their families and relatives.
