Prime Minister and BNP chairman Tarique Rahman attended a medical rally organised on the occasion of the 37th founding anniversary of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB).
The rally was held at the LD Hall premises of the National Parliament House on Saturday morning. The prime minister along with her wife and vice chairman of Ziaur Rahman Foundation Dr. Zubaida Rahman was present.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister and Dr. Zubaida Rahman planted the saplings of the Nim and Arjuna trees. Later, the prime minister inaugurated the programme by hoisting the national and party flags and flying balloons and pigeons.
The Prime Minister said the country’s medical society has been playing an important role in the issue of freedom, democracy and fundamental rights of the people. The participation of doctors in the formation of a modern, humane and public welfare-oriented state is essential.
He urged the doctors to perform their professional duties as well as give importance to human values to make healthcare more people-friendly and effective.
DAB leaders, doctors and health sector professionals from different districts and divisions of the country took part in the rally. The speakers stressed the importance of ensuring the occupational safety of the doctors, modernization of the health system and ensuring quality medical care for the people.
The DAB leaders expressed the hope that effective steps would be taken to improve the quality of medical care, modernize hospital management and ensure the occupational safety of doctors, considering the health sector as a priority of national development.
