Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said the supply of gas will start from the floating LNG terminal (FSRU) on Thursday afternoon after the mechanical failure was repaired.
He expressed the hope that the gas supply to the country would return to normal in the next two to three days.
Talking to reporters at the secretariat on Thursday, the minister said the repair work of the FSRU will be completed by noon. After that, the pressure of the pipeline will be normalized and it will be possible to overcome the current crisis.
“The situation that was before the closure of the FSRU will return to that situation in two or three days,” he said.
Mentioning that the gas crisis has also affected the power generation, the minister said the power plants that are closed due to lack of gas will be restored as soon as the supply is restored. As a result, power generation will gradually return to normal.
