Dengue deaths surpass 200-mark

The death toll from dengue crossed 200-mark as three people died of dengue in the last 24 hours in the country while 859 patients were hospitalized during the period.
With the latest, the tally of dengue patients hospitalized in various public-private hospitals rose to 3,275 while the death toll climbed to 202, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on Sunday.

The report states that in the last 24 hours, among the new 859 dengue patients, 426 patients are residents of Dhaka and 433 are outside Dhaka.

According to DGHS, from January 1 to November 13, a total of 48,529 people were diagnosed with dengue fever, among them, 45,138 patients have recovered from the Aedes-borne-mosquito disease.

Noted that the first death due to dengue was reported on June 21 this year. During the COVID pandemic in 2020, the dengue outbreak was not seen much, but in 2021, 28,429 people were diagnosed with dengue fever across the country while 105 people died of the disease nationwide.
